Thoughtful Question

The British colonized the modern world? Who is colonizing the modern
universe? Have there been any claims to planets... I know people can
buy starts, but who will have rights to the planets, and when did they
get those rights and how?

Life as a Loan Officer

Well, been selling mortgages for 3 months now and finally might be able
to show something for it. Still don't like the job because it is too
stressful, but hopefully I'll be able to make enough money to pay off
my debt, get certified skydiving, and buy a motorcycle. These long days
kill me though, and all I want to do is relax when I get home. Spending
2 hours on the phone everyday calling people is tiring. Oh well, I'll
give it a chance for a bit longer and see what pans out.

Sunrisers Kick Ass

Front_page_headlightI got these for my Sector 9 Pin Tail and now I'm doing midnight
sessions of a mountain road that closes to traffic after 7pm.. (Prospect Mtn. Highway)  No cars,
plenty of light from the headlight... Freakin' awesome man.

Porcupine Here, Porcupine There, Everywhere a Porcupine

Prospect_mountain_porcupinesI recently bought very bright LED headlights and tail lights for my
Sector 9 pintail. They are called Sunrisers (check out my technology
blog). They shine about 50' up the road. I decide to hike prospect
mountain at midnight and skateboard down the road with the lights on.
As I leave my truck at the gate a cop shines his hi beams on to see an
image of a punk kid with gloves, a camelbak and a large skateboard
start walking up the road. I got to the first overlook at about 1,200
feet of elevation and decide that was good enough. As I'm sailing down
the road picking up wayyy to much speed and trying not to think about
the large boulders on both sides of the road blocking all bail out
exits, I see some strange objects ahead. I though... hmm... I didn't
notice those large bails of hay in the road on the way up... nope...
they were friggin' porcupines! There were about 6 large ones lumbering
across the road and they didn't give a shit that a large bright object
was hurtling at them at mach looney speed at this point. With the
option of bailing out to the side of the road and smashing head first
into a large boulder or bailing in the middle of the road to surely
roll over a few very prickly animals I chose to run the porcupine
gauntlet. Threaded the needle on my pin tail through a family of
porcupines, flew around the last bend at speed that was pusing fish
tails, and finally slowed to a stop with my legs shaking. What a rush...

Mt. Cabot... Finally

I set out today to climb Mt. Cabot again... hopefully on the right trail and to the summit this time!  I did a little research online last night and found that the most used trail is the Burnell Notch Trail from Berlin, NH.... yeah, the same Berlin, NH that smelled like shit when I drove through it last due to the paper plant there.  I also found that the trail begins at the Berlin Fish Hatchery which closes the gate to visitors at 4pm.  This meant that I had to be down from the mountain at 4pm or my fathers car would be locked in the fish hatchery over night and I'd have to walk another 7 miles down the acces road to civilization to get help...  The drive up there took about 4 hours with my dads Taurus which I left my parents house with at about 8am.
I Mt_cabot_5106_001started my hike down the old logging road at noon and pretty much ran up the Burnell Notch Trail to the saddle between Killkenny and Cabot, arriving there at 1pm.  There was snow in the notch still
in the shadows so I knew I would encounter some on the way upMt_cabot_5106_010
to the summit.  I wore regular hiking boots for this hike because I did not think I would need my plastic mountaineering boots on the wooded summit.  It was slippery at times on the icy snow covered trail but I was able to make it to the summit ridge and old firetower cabin just before 2pm.  I snapped a few pics of the cabin and some views from the porch before heading quickly over to the wooded summit of Mt. Cabot.  I had climbed 4.8 miles in 2 hours... not bad.  The wooded summit and the simple wooden sign labelled "Mt. Cabot" wasn't really Mt_cabot_5106_013
rewarding but hey.. I'm a peak bagger and needed the mountain.  I quickly ate a snickers bar and then proceeded to bomb down the icy trail again as fast as IMt_cabot_5106_018 could go making it back down to the col at 2:30.  Careful of my knees I slowed down a bit on the descent and was able to make it back out to my dads car by 3:45pm and
through the Berlin Fishery gate that closed at 4pm by 3:55pm... close call on that one.  I finished the nearly 10 mile hike in just over 3.5 hours... not bad at all.  I stopped to take some pics of the fish at the hatchery before heading out for my 4 hour drive home....
It cost me 50 bucks to climb Mt. Cabot today... $40 in gas, $10 in food and drinks.  I thought mountain climbing was supposed to be inexpensive.  Thank God my dad lets me take his car to save money on gas... other wise I'd have to buy a scooter!

Windstorm Wreckage

Wind_storm_cleanup_32406_002
Today I went to my parents for the day to help them clean up the backyard from the massive windstorm we had at the end of February.  Last night I had driven down to Albany to help Kenny install a new hard drive in his computer and had crashed there for the night.  It was hard to pull myself off his couch to leave for my parents.  I left my Beaver hat there which he is now holding for ransom until I come down to visit again!

A family friend had come over with a chainsaw and cut up the big stuff but it still took 7 full loads with my truck to get all the debris to the dump.  Check out how low the bed of my truck is in this picture... I love my truck!
