Processing of Band Ratio Images is Complete
The week of Thanksgiving:
I have finished processing the band ratio images for both Hood and Rainier. I was able to find an image for Rainier that covers 90% of the mountain for 2009. It is the only clear day for this past year in either of the Landsat passes and could be useful for individual glacier analysis on the mountain. All the images for Hood have also been processed and can be found in the galleries. The galleries for both peaks can be found by clicking the “galleries” tab at the top of this page. After I make a good image for Bruce and others for their presentation this week I’ll go through and try to pick the best image out of every three year period to look at. I’ve updated all the snotel data for up to this fall in my spreadsheet and I read two more papers during the short week. This week I’ll be back up to 5 a week. I’m missing 2004 for Mt. Hood because the image date I wanted to do couldn’t be processed at USGS so I grabbed the next image above it in the satellite path for the same date and hopefully it will download. Upon looking at the 2009 image for Hood I may run it through processing again because it looks strange (just to double check my work).
Also, I don’t know if you’ve noticed but if you slowly scroll your mouse across the images to the right it should flick through the ratio images... I’m not sure it’s in the right order, but it is still neat, like a flipbook.
So, from here on out, I’ll be finding the threshold and outputting them from ENVI to ArcGIS for spatial analysis and hopefully in the coming weeks I’ll be able to come up with some great data. I’ve been getting a bunch of ideas for analysis based on the papers I’ve been reading as well.
When I first created my paper review site I didn’t have the “comments” function turned on which is probably why I haven’t seen any comments from you on my notes and questions on the papers. The comment functionality is now working and I’d be curious to hear from you how the format I’m presenting my paper notes is working?
