2005 NAIP and Plots

This past week:

Thank you for clearing it up with Andrew. I never want to step on any toes and I always plan on fully crediting everyone who helps me in my research. I found a way to download a .5m NAIP from the Oregon Explorer website. It only allows 2gb per day of data so it has taken me a couple days and I am half done with it. It should help me dilineate the glacier outline for Hood for 2005. I plotted the Max SWE for each year and the first day of the season where the SWE was zero. I put them in the gallery of figures which you can see via the “galleries” tab up top. The years 1987, 1992 and 2005 clearly show very earlier dates of melt out for both mountains and much lower max SWE.

I will be out of town all weekend but I’ll make sure to get an email out to Andrew Fountain about possibly getting recent glacier outlines from him or his students and I will repeat in the email that I will credit him in everything I present or write.

First day of zero SWE: Are there any years with significant snow events that occur after this date - which might be problematic for our interpretation of the Landsat imagery?
Is there correspondence between early disappearance of SWE and minimum extent of glacier area as mapped from Landsat? (we hope so but perhaps not).
Which of these years are La Nina years? Do these have anomalously high late season snow?
